Sure to be a classic. I actually wrote a letter to the author thanking him for such a perfect gem of a loving book – sometimes now when I am running frazzled and feeling out of sorts I’ll just look at my husband and yell “HUG” and we laugh and I get a hug and eveything hub better. We all need love. I can’t help thinking that this masterful and enchanting book has actually helped our daughter to develop her emotional awareness, while having fun at the same time.
Few childrens’ books are as tender and entertaining as this one. She still loves it to this day! I believe this book is great for young children who may be reluctant readers or are still learning to read. While I wish the copy I got was bigger, I love how the pictures speak volumes in this almost wordless book about the recognition and need of a hug and family. Jez Alborough created a modern classic with Hugthe story of a little chimpanzee named Bobo and his quest for a hug.

The lack of words takes me out of the driver’s seat, and leaves my month-old daughter to jabber away with her own version of what’s going on. From the tiniest children to the most esteemed elders, everyone is simply enchanted. Repeat reading will, hopefully, instil recognition.
The book is from early years to key stage one but as mentioned earlier it definitely is a jfz for everyone to read at least once in his or her lifetime. Description A tiny chimp invokes the universal language, uniting his friends in a group hug to end all group hugs. Poor Bobo wants a hug but no one will give him one.

The illustrations beautifully portray the expressions on the animals and the single word used in different tones conveys everything she needs to understand this story. But that doesn’t mean that it is less than any other picture book.
My daughter has loved this book since she was 1 yr old now almost 3yrs old. Hug is my all time favorite picture book. I have three alboeough Everytime the word hug appears, we hug.
