Although I have no interest in the Kaballah, Albahari was able to keep my attention. I have heard some reviews comparing it to Umberto Eco, but while I really enjoy Eco’s work I found Leeches very dense and a bit of a slog to read.

Albahari definitely uses brilliant language, has many original ideas, and is no writer of soap operas. Albagari Kabbalah plays a major role in the story, so if you have zero idea what that is, I recommend you skip this novel entirely. Milena added it Jun 14, Ma anche, quanti ebrei?
